Product Information: Authentic organic Japanese KEIKO green tea “Tenko” (loose leaf) is grown in semi-shade, first harvested at the end of April. It has a distinctive, rich, and refreshing aroma. The prepared tea is a deep green color with a unique nutty flavor.
Under the KEIKO name lies a group of unusually delicate teas, each with a distinct taste and aroma, corresponding to different leaf picking times. KEIKO teas are grown on an organic farm in the Kagoshima region of southern Japan. Tea can be grown in shade or sunlight. When grown in semi-shade under special nets (Japanese “Kabuse”), conditions become very similar to the natural ones in which wild tea bushes grow. “Kabusecha” is exceptionally rich in extracts, distinctly green, and acquires a sweeter taste.
KEIKO teas are processed in a special way that allows the tea leaves to best reveal their flavors and prevents oxidation. Immediately after harvest, the tea leaves are steamed, cooled, rolled, and dried. Airtight bags preserve the active ingredients and fresh tea aroma until the moment you enjoy it.
Preparation: Pour water at a temperature no higher than 60-65ºC (can be infused 4 times). Use one level teaspoon of tea leaves per cup (about 150 ml) of water. Steep the first infusion for 60 seconds and fully pour off the tea from the pot – the tea is ready to enjoy! Steep the second infusion for 15 seconds, the third for 15 seconds, and the fourth for 30 seconds. Each time, fully pour off the tea from the leaves. It is best to drink all four cups of tea without long intervals between infusions.
Packaged in a controlled environment. Once opened, keep the package tightly sealed in the refrigerator. The tea retains its best qualities for at least one month after opening the package.
