They are an excellent source of protein and free of sugars. The majority of the fats are polyunsaturated and monounsaturated.
Sesame is a crop native to Asia. Growing and harvesting sesame “capsules,” which only open when the seeds are fully ripe, is a labor-intensive process requiring a lot of manual work. Sesame seeds add a nutty flavor and a subtle crunch to various dishes. They are used to season soups, salads, stews, sprinkled on bread, and added to sweets.
These sesame seeds are suitable for sprouting (see sprouts in the second photo). Before sprouting, soak them in water for about 8-14 hours, and they sprout in 1-1.5 days.
Kitchen Tips: Add sesame seeds when baking homemade bread or rolls. Mix dry-roasted seeds with salt (12:1 ratio) and use for sprinkling on stews, salads, bread, and other dishes. Drizzle steamed broccoli or green beans with lemon juice and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Enjoy!
